Today, I’m excited to share some free printables and Montessori-inspired activities that can be used with Spielgaben yarn balls.
My Previous Spielgaben Posts:
Check out my original Spielgaben review (with examples of Montessori-inspired activities as shown in the collage above) to find out more about Spielgaben educational toys. Spielgaben toys are exceptionally high-quality educational toys designed for ages 3-12. They come with over 1,000 pages of supplementary learning materials that help you as a parent or teacher easily use Spielgaben toys educationally with your child and/or students. All of the instructional materials are digital PDFs that can be printed out or viewed on any device.
Montessori-Inspired Color Activities Using Spielgaben Yarn Balls and Free Printables
These activities could be adapted for a variety of materials. The yarn balls are the Froebel Gift #1. You’ll find an amazing variety of ways to use the Spielgaben yarn balls in the resource materials that come with each complete Spielgaben set.
For example, the yarn balls and shape creation cards basket from my original Spielgaben review post uses images from one of the resource worksheets. I’m adding to those ideas today by sharing some free printables from around the blogosphere and ideas for using Spielgaben in a Montessori-friendly environment.
Color Tablets and Yarn Ball Matching
(Note: for home use, I would just use the Montessori Print Shop printable rather than purchasing color tablets. You can find presentation ideas here: DIY Color Tablets.) I like adding the yarn balls after an initial introduction to colors using the color tablets alone. The yarn balls are uniform in size and shape, so they fit well with the Montessori principle of isolation of quality. The yarn balls have an appealing texture and are a great extension to Montessori color tablets.)
I put the layout on a large hemmed work rug from Montessori Services.
Color Tablets, Spanish Colors, and Yarn Ball Matching
For this activity, I used the free Spanish/English Color Matching Cards from Homeschool Creations along with the above color tablets from Montessori Print Shop.
Color Sequence Caterpillar with Yarn Balls
Here’s a cute free Color Sequence Caterpillar printable from Made by The Teacher. I used an an elliptical bamboo basket from Montessori Services and an inexpensive wooden tray from Michaels craft store.
Yarn Color Puzzles and Yarn Ball Matching
This activity uses a free Yarn Color Puzzle printable from Confessions of a Homeschooler. You can cut the puzzles in a way that makes them simple or difficult to put together. I stored the yarn balls in an elliptical bamboo basket and the puzzle pieces in a smaller bamboo potato basket from Montessori Services. Both baskets are on an inexpensive wooden tray from Michaels craft store.
Special Deal on Spielgaben Educational Toys
13 sequential Spielgaben sets made of environmentally sustainable and non-toxic children friendly materials.
3 wooden multi-set trays with chessboard lid that stores all of the 13 sets neatly and efficiently and help children pack and unpack effortlessly.
Learning Resources : 8 to 12 years worth of learning activities and lessons including full colour digital format of 4 sets user guides, over 30 sets interactive worksheets, 65 inspiration cards and many more…
I highly recommend Spielgaben as an amazing educational material for home or school. Even though the toys aren’t inexpensive, they’re definitely worth the price because of the high quality of materials and number of years your children or students can use them. Spielgaben is giving a very special deal right now to my USA readers. The Spielgaben complete set will be $320 USA including shipping to USA residents only. If you go to the Spielgaben Contact Form and send Spielgaben an email mentioning Living Montessori Now, you will be contacted by Spielgaben and sent a USD invoice so you don’t have to deal with foreign exchange.
Montessori Monday Link-Up
If you have some Montessori activity trays/lessons to share, please link up below. It’s fine to link up a post from your archives – and you may link up anytime during the week! Your post may be any Montessori-inspired activity or idea. It doesn’t need to be related to my Montessori Monday post. Link up your exact post URL so that we can find your activity if we return to the linky at a later date (which I often do when I’m looking for activities for a roundup post).
I publish the Montessori Monday post and linky at 6:00 a.m. EST each Monday and keep the linky open throughout the week. Please place the Montessori Monday button (using the code from the right sidebar) in your post or put a link back to this post. Let’s use Montessori Monday to gain inspiration/ideas and to encourage each other! If you would leave an encouraging comment on the post linked up ahead of you (along with any other posts you’re drawn to), that would be awesome!
Notes For community discussions, please join us at the Living Montessori Now Facebook page, We Teach Montessori Group, and/or Google+ Montessori Community. New links will go to the top of the linky. I’d love to see us build up a great collection of Montessori-inspired ideas there, too. After you link up here, why not hop over to the We Teach Montessori Group and link up there?!
