I love the coziness of autumn – and apple activities just add to that feeling of coziness. There are lots of wonderful apple-themed activities online right now, and there are even many Montessori-inspired apple activities. I’ll be sharing some Montessori-inspired apple activities here and linking to my new Apple Unit Studies Pinterest board with all types of apple activities from around the blogosphere.
An Apple Unit Study in September and/or October
September is a great time for an apple unit study for school or homeschool. September 26 is even the birthday of Johnny Appleseed. (Johnny Appleseed was born September 26, 1774.) October is National Apple Month in the U.S., so you can easily extend an apple unit into October. Also, Apple Day, celebrated mainly in the UK, is October 21. When I was teaching, I typically switched to a Halloween theme and general harvest theme for the last two weeks of October. Of course, you may keep apple activities out for as long as you want or keep the most popular apple activities on the shelves as part of a harvest theme throughout autumn. Thanks to the following sites for sharing these great Montessori-inspired apple activities:

Zina :: Let's Lasso the Moon says
Usually on Fridays we have popcorn for dinner (http://letslassothemoon.com/?p=171). Yeah I know it is weird. BUT this Friday we are doing something different. Today I am going to go to the grocery store and buy every type of apple I can get my hands on. The girls are going to make apple charts. We are going to chart the colors, the tastes, which ones we like or do not like. We are also going to get a variety of dipping items: caramel sauce, Laughing Cow cheese spread, peanut butter and rate those with the apples too. I am so excited. 🙂 I am also thankful that we are studying apples at home the same month you are posting about them. It has been a great resource for me! Thanks for all you do.

Rhonda Kight says
I really enjoyed the apple activities! In my wandering around from sight to sight I came upon shape pattern cards using the shapes to make each letter of the alphabet. My printer was out of ink so I thought I bookmarked the sight and go back to it. Well, now that I have ink and want to find that sight, I can’t. Do you have any idea what that sight might be? I would be very grateful if you could let me know. Thanks Rhonda
