Activity of the Week – Montessori-Inspired Spring Activities

March 28, 2011 By Deb Chitwood

Demonstrating a Raincloud (Photo from The Moveable Alphabet)

This week, I’m featuring some wonderful Montessori-inspired spring activities. The photo shows a unique activity for demonstrating a raincloud from The Moveable Alphabet (blog is no longer available).

I love that the activity has a science component and is a great exercise in eye-hand coordination as well. Check out the post at The Moveable Alphabet for descriptive photos and directions on how to prepare that activity and two other activities related to rain.

Here are links to other lovely Montessori-inspired spring activities I found online:

Spring Matching Cards from Montessori for Everyone

Birds Match-Up and Memory Game from Montessori Print Shop

Spring Theme Printables from Montessori for Learning

Springtime Lesson Planning Links from American Montessori Consulting

Zoo Scavenger Hunt and 3 Part Cards (a fun spring activity) and Spring Nature Tray from Little Wonders’ Days

Easter Activities from Counting Coconuts

Flower Arranging from Education of Ours

Spring posts from Leptir (including other great activities such as ordering wrenches by size)

Toddlers Spring PL Shelves and Encouraging Spring from Montessori Mama

Spring Flower Art Project, New Practical Life for Spring, and Spring Ribbon Weaving from My Montessori Journey

Easter and Springtime: Integrating Science and Cultural Activities in the Montessori Classroom from North American Montessori Center

Spring is Here! from Teaching Montessori

Parts of Leaf, Parts of Seed from Walk Beside Me

So many great spring activities to choose from! Have fun! 🙂

Thank you for sharing this activity with us. I thought it was a wonderful idea! And this is why I have “stolen” your idea for my preschool (but I did mention your blog as the source). Check it out on: http://theguilletots.blogspot.com/2011/04/naming-clouds.html
