Activity of the Week – Montessori Thanksgiving Noun Sorting Work

November 8, 2010 By Deb Chitwood

Montessori Thanksgiving Noun Sorting Work from Motherwell Montessori

Montessori Thanksgiving Noun Sorting Work from Motherwell Montessori

Here’s a great activity from Motherwell Montessori  for elementary-aged children or advanced preschoolers. It can be used to introduce Thanksgiving nouns or to work with articles along with the Thanksgiving nouns.

The activity is designed to sort Thanksgiving nouns that are person, place, or thing. Motherwell Montessori even provides a free download. The activity is simple to prepare and only requires paper, printer, cutter, and lamination (optional). For a seasonal activity for home use, you could print the activity on thick, glossy photo paper and skip the lamination.

You might want to introduce the activity Nouns: Person, Place, & Thing from Homemade Montessori before the seasonal nouns.

If you’re ready to introduce articles, here are some introductory activities from Info Montessori: The Article.

Thanks for featuring this, Deb! My son–who just turned 7 last week–sniff, sniff–was thrilled to hear that other kids might be doing this work too:) I did also just post a Parts of the Mayflower and What Part of the Mayflower Am I Work today. This work is geared towards a slightly older child–in my case for my soon to be 9 year old daughter. You can find that work here: http://motherwellmontessori.com/?p=132.

Thanks, Michelle! I really love activities that are themed to a season or holiday, too. I think it brings much more interest to an activity.
