Father’s Day made me think of one of my favorite activities for fathers to do with their children – woodworking. Of course, mothers can do woodworking as well. Woodworking is a great summer activity, especially if you can move it outdoors.
In Montessori education, children work with real, child-size woodworking tools. North American Montessori Center (NAMC) has an article on Montessori-oriented woodworking with good suggestions and extensions.
Do you have a favorite variation of woodworking with children?

This is an excellent article. Woodworking is one my hobbies, and it always a good feeling when you know you’ve created something by hand.
I am a big fan of Montessori and Steiner as far as teaching kids what to do in their lives.
Tell them that when they grow up and still want to do woodworking they can come to me for training 🙂
