Here’s a video of Albert Lea Montessori that has ideas for parents and teachers. The video gives both information and inspiration regarding Montessori education. There are also some ideas for parents and teachers to use in their homes and classrooms.
The video has a helpful introduction to Montessori education. It also shows important elements of Montessori education in action, such as the attractive environment with child-sized furniture and positive interactions between children of different ages and levels.
Following are two of my favorite ideas from the video that could be used in many home- or school environments:
- The organic garden with a child-sized table and chairs for children to work outdoors.
- The snack-preparation activity used by a number of children in the video.
When you watch the video, stop at the section on gifting levels, unless you are looking for ideas for a school fundraiser.
What was your favorite part of the video?
Update: I believe Albert Lea Montessori is now closed. I’m glad its legacy remains through this video as well as the families it served.

I love the idea of having organic garden and spaces for children to do outdoor activity. Children nowadays are too coop up inside the house playing computers so having such space is definitely a breath of fresh air.
