Montessori-Inspired Summer Playdough Activities

June 10, 2013 By Deb Chitwood

I’ve had fun putting together posts with Montessori-inspired playdough activities for kids during different seasons. For any season, you can set up a Montessori-inspired playdough activity on a tray or as a separate playdough table. For ideas on creating Montessori-inspired playdough activities in general, see my original playdough roundup: Montessori-Inspired Playdough Activities 101.

Montessori-Inspired Summer Playdough Activities

Many of the Montessori-inspired spring playdough activities (such as rainbows, gardens, nature, and flowers) work well in the summer, too. Today, I want to share some summer themes such as oceans and beaches, ice cream, fruit, insects, space (since summer is a great time for star gazing), and Independence Day for playdough and similar substances.

Following are some fun ideas for Montessori-inspired playdough activities with a summer theme. The activities that might not be strictly “Montessori” would still work very well with a Montessori-inspired playdough activity tray or table.

Lots of inspiring play dough activities here. Thanks for gathering all of these together for us. We’ve just done some ice cream play dough ourselves and popsicle play dough too! 🙂 So glad I’ve overcome my “fear” of making my own dough! LOL
