Activity of the Week – December Poetry Basket and Montessori-Inspired Christmas Activities

December 13, 2010 By Deb Chitwood 14 Comments

Today, I want to focus on some great Montessori-inspired Christmas activities for your preschooler. The photo is of a December poetry basket from Counting Coconuts. There’s also a December Poem PDF.

I always loved presenting poetry as a Montessori teacher and with my own children. The poetry basket is an appealing tactile way to introduce poetry for preschoolers. Counting Coconuts links back to My Montessori Journey as the inspiration for the poetry basket. Be sure to check out the posts on both Counting Coconuts and My Montessori Journey for ideas on how to prepare and present the poetry basket.

Here are links to some other wonderful Montessori-inspired Christmas activities (along with other activities in the posts) which are perfect for use at home or school:

On Our Shelves – December and December Discovery Tray from Counting Coconuts

On Our Shelves: December Activities from Sunrise Learning Lab

What’s on the Shelves – December from The Adventures of Bear

Montessori Monday from Barefoot in Suburbia

Toddler Tuesday from The Work Plan

Fantastic Friday from The Education of Ours

December Practical Life Activities and Christmas Story Bracelets from My Montessori Journey

Montessori Christmas Ideas from The Home Teacher

Preschool Montessori Christmas Activities from Never Picture Perfect

Prepare some Montessori-inspired Christmas fun for your child!
