Discovering Montessori

October 23, 2017 By Deb Chitwood

There are many myths and misconceptions about Montessori education. The best way to begin to understand Montessori is to see it in action. The second best way is probably to see videos of Montessori in action. That’s true whether you plan to send your child to a Montessori school, have a Montessori homeschool, or use some Montessori principles.

Discovering Montessori

Discovering Montessori Video

This video gives a good overview of the Montessori Method and a glimpse into Montessori in the UK. The video is called Discovering Montessori with Tana Ramsay. A notable quote is when Tana Ramsay says:

Montessori is a way of life as much as it’s a way of education, and it doesn’t just start when the child is old enough to go to nursery school.

An Overview of Montessori Education

If you’d like more information about Montessori education, check out my “M is for Montessori” post.

You’ll find more Montessori video inspiration in my Montessori schools – video ideas and inspiration category.

You’ll also find video inspiration and help in my “Free Montessori at Home Videos” post, including free Montessori video lessons and lots of videos in the Living Montessori Now YouTube channel.

Montessori Crash Course Free Workshop and Course Introduction

Jo Ebisujima and I also lead our Montessori Crash Course with a less overwhelming way to start using Montessori at home (plus lots of helpful hand holding and group support)! You can get the link to see a free introductory workshop with tips to get you started using Montessori at home!

Where to Share Kid-Related Activities for Me to Feature on Our Living Montessori Now Facebook Page

Our Living Montessori Now Facebook page has over 200,000 members, and I invite you to share your Montessori-inspired activities and ideas (or any kid-related activities) there any day. You can always post right on the home feed, and it’ll show up in Visitor Posts. If you get a message that “You don’t have permission to share on this page,” ignore that. You do have permission. That’s just an occasional Facebook glitch. I welcome you to share a photo along with a short description and link to the activity. Or you can just add a link and let Facebook generate an image. If it acts glitchy and won’t let you share as your page, you’re welcome to use your personal profile when sharing. It’s fine for you to use your personal profile and tag your Facebook page. I’ll often be featuring activities that are shared on our Living Montessori Now Facebook page throughout the week.

I hope you have as much fun discovering Montessori as I’ve had. 🙂
