Where to Buy Montessori Elementary Albums and Materials

September 4, 2018 By Deb Chitwood 14 Comments

If you’re looking for Montessori elementary albums, the best way for you to get them depends a lot on your life situation. Of course, the ideal place to start is with Montessori elementary training if you can afford it and it’s feasible with your life situation. Because you’ll make or be given albums along with the information and guidance you receive in your training, that’s the typically recommended solution.

Where to Buy Montessori Elementary Albums and MaterialsIf you want to teach in a Montessori elementary school, you’ll need the Montessori elementary training from the beginning. But if you’re planning to use Montessori elementary education in your homeschool, you have a lot more options. Montessori elementary training isn’t essential for Montessori homeschools, although it will give you more confidence.

Many Montessori elementary schools require Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) or American Montessori Society (AMS) training for their teachers. It always helps if you talk with the Montessori elementary school where you’re interested in teaching to find out its requirements. For homeschooling, there are Montessori elementary training courses you can take online if you want the information but aren’t as concerned about a specific teacher certification.

For my earlier Montessori elementary posts with background information, see Introduction to Montessori Elementary, Montessori Elementary Homeschool Inspiration and Ideas, and Free Montessori Elementary Montessori Materials Online (including free Montessori elementary albums).

Here are some helpful resources for Montessori elementary teacher training, Montessori elementary albums available for purchase, and Montessori elementary materials available for purchase:

Thanks for sharing this information, it’s rather timely. I’m going to spend some time looking through it. I just purchased a moveable alphabet to use with my two youngest. I never bought one for Little J since he was at a Montessori school. I’m just nervous about using it correctly!!
    Happy Teachers’ Week too!

Thanks, Raniela! Not all Montessori elementary school require AMI-trained teachers, although many do … and AMI training is definitely thorough and consistent with Maria Montessori’s original ideas. 🙂

Needed this post, thanks so much! Looking for albums to use with my 13 year old son with learning disabilities. I’m finding that Montessori upper elementary actually covers a lot of most of us would consider to be “middle school” material. I’m probably going with Keys to the Universe as hers claim to cover some middle school also.

Thanks for your comment, Maureen! I’m glad the timing was right! Montessori elementary definitely covers much of what traditional middle school covers. It’s also nice that the Keys of the Universe albums have an AMI orientation. 🙂

How can I distinguish AMI albums online?

    Jennifer,

AMI albums are going to correlate with one another pretty tightly; so compare the tables of contents. For easy reference, the Montessori Nuggets site has several posts with tables of contents in various subjects; these are all from AMI albums.

Great response, Jessica! Thanks for answering this! I’m still catching up after spending 8 days with my adult kids and kids-in-love in San Diego. 🙂

    Deb,

This post came up in an elementary resource search I was doing (preparing a blog post focusing specifically on upper elementary Montessori) and I thought I’d look it over again. I SO appreciate how thorough you are!

I noticed that the M R&D links are all lined out – did I miss something with them?

Thanks so much for your kind comment, Jessica! And thanks for letting me know about the M R&D links. My new theme automatically lines out broken links (and ones that aren’t broken on rare occasions). It’s helpful for me because I learn about blogs that have been deleted or links that have been changed. I checked, and M R&D updated their links (which weren’t descriptive before). I’ve fixed them now. 🙂

This is a wonderful resource list! The link for Elizabeth Papandrea appears to lead incorrectly. Do you know where I can find more information on her albums? Thanks!
