Keys of the Universe Elementary Montessori Training

January 3, 2012 By Deb Chitwood

UPDATE: The giveaway is now closed. See update at the bottom of the post (right below the Rafflecopter form) for the announcement of the winner! Jessica from Keys of the Universe has elementary trainings that start each month. Be sure to check out Keys of the Universe for more information!

I’ve had a number of readers ask about Montessori elementary education for homeschoolers. While Karen Tyler offers a wonderful online training to teach children ages 2 ½ -6, there wasn’t a similar inexpensive option for the elementary level.

Now Jessica Welsh, an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) certified primary and elementary teacher is providing training for parents and teachers who aren’t able to take a traditional Montessori training course for certification. (Note: if you aren’t familiar with AMI, the organization was started by Dr. Montessori herself, and it’s the Montessori training program considered most authentic).

Keys of the Universe is an AMI-based online elementary Montessori training program primarily for homeschoolers (and open to anyone who works with children at the elementary level). While the program doesn’t give AMI certification, it does give you the opportunity to learn how to teach your children at home using AMI-based teaching methods and albums.

I’m excited to host a giveaway sponsored by Keys of the Universe! This is a great way to start the new year if you have (or will have) elementary-aged children! Courses start at the beginning of each month.

The Keys of the Universe training covers ages 6-12, which is especially nice. Typically, one elementary Montessori training course covers ages 6-9 and another course is required to cover ages 9-12. This course can also be completed at home over 8 or 16 months, depending on which option you choose. You’ll receive Jessica’s AMI-based training albums as part of the course.

Here are the main features of the Keys of the Universe elementary training:

Key Features of the Elementary Montessori Training:

  • Lower elementary and upper elementary (6-9 and 9-12 integrated into a 6-12 continuum)
  • Introduces the Erdkinder Montessori for adolescents 12-15
  • AMI-based Elementary Montessori training albums with some additional albums in AMI style – albums are provided as the course progresses.
  • Elementary Montessori albums include mathematics, geometry, language and literature, geography (geology, functional and economic geography, some physics), biology (botany, zoology, human health), music, art, history, astronomy, theory and background.
  • Support for local educational standards, particularly for Montessori homeschool and international schools.
  • Discounts at Garden of Francis on many downloadable elementary Montessori materials, including elementary Montessori charts, timelines, mathematics, language and more.
  • Private online support for 150% the length of your course
  • Permanent discussion community – After the course ends, you continue to gain from the elementary Montessori community!
  • Four course options

Now for the Giveaway:

What You Will Win: 1 lucky winner worldwide will win half off the tuition for the entire Keys of the Universe 6-12 training (a $150 value). OR, the winner may choose instead 2 AMI-based training albums (History and Cosmic Education albums) from Keys of the Universe (a $90 value)

Cosmic Education Album Table of Contents:

The cosmic education album table of contents:
5 Great Lessons
Series of the most immediate follow-up lessons, known as the Key Lessons
Theory and Background on Cosmic Education
Suggestions for integrating cosmic education principles in any classroom or homeschool environment (including non-Montessori)

Black Strip

History Album Table of Contents

UPDATE:

It’s Wednesday morning, January 11. I read all your comments and appreciated the 521 entries! A winner has been selected using Random.org through Rafflecopter!

The winner of the Half Off Keys of the Universe Elementary Montessori Training ($150 Value) OR 2 Montessori Elementary Albums ($90 Value) is My Boys’ Teacher from What DID We Do All Day?

I’m so happy for My Boys’ Teacher, who had multiple entries! (Note: My Boys’ Teacher, you have 48 hours to respond to my email, or a new winner will be chosen.)

The comment for My Boys’ Teacher’s mandatory entry (why she wanted to win) said:

“I have wanted to purchase these albums, but $150 is my album budget rather than $300. This would make them right on target for me!”

CONGRATULATIONS, My Boys’ Teacher!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH to Jessica from Keys of the Universe for sponsoring the giveaway – and thank you to everyone who entered! 🙂

the idea of homeschooling (not only pre, but the school) matures in me
what is blocking me is the lack of knowledge of what and how to do with my boys…
having such knowledge and access to the albums I could bravely decide to homeschool 🙂

Thank you for this opportunity! My oldest attended a wonderful Montessori preschool program at our local community college. We tried 2 public schools after that for K-1 (bumped to 2nd by Nov.) She has never been fully satisfied in school after having had the Montessori experience, so we are homeschooling now. I guess you could say our curriculum is a bit ecclectic right now but I would love to have the guidance for continuing Montessori in the elementary grades. Thanks again!

I have trained for 3-6 and have some experience in a 6-9 classroom. However, I would love to expand my knowledge of Montessori so that I can put what I know to good use here. I am based in the UK, and involved in helping people set up new Montessori primary free (elementary in the US) schools, and I would love to be able to do this course so that I can help them even more substantially.
