Hey all!
I’d really like to win this raffle. Me and my son got out of an abusive relationship a little while ago. He has been behind ever since. When we started he only spoke 3-4 words and had no social skills. We put him in a Montessori style program twice a week and it has really helped him to catch up and rebound from what he went through. I’ve been starting to implement Montessori at home, since it was helping so much, and he is growing so fast. These would really help me to get a better feel for what I am doing and allow me to help him to the fullest extent.
I left teaching in the public schools after 7 years for several reasons, mainly the birth of my first son, but also because I was realizing more and more how different the public school system and my values were. I believed more in the Montessori philosophy and they believed in test prep. I couldn’t go on getting paid for a job I know longer believed in. As a mother of a 2.5 year old and a 7 month old, I’m anxious to learn more about the Montessori way so I can use those methods at home with my boys. One day, I may even get my certification and go back to teaching, at a Montessori school!

I’m a teacher turned stay at home mom of two (2 y and 1 m). Having had a rather intimate glance at the state of our education I’m very interested in seeking an alternative education for my children…most likely home schooling. When I was pregnant I didn’t even think about how was I going to show my son the world, play with him or show him how to do things. I didn’t know about the many education schools. I was taught at school the old fashion way with lots of copying and memorizing, following orders like sheep, I don’t want that for my son. When my son was born I came across a Montessori article and my world changed. First thing we bought was a mirror,then we organize the nursery and bought montessori toys. My son is now 2 yrs and 7 months and we requested grandparents and uncles to save the money from plastic toys and buy some cool “toys” at the hardware store instead. I have read Maria Montessori’s books . I wish all daycares and schools would apply the Montessori Method of education. Winning this prize would make me super happy. It will be so great to organize all the ideas and to have folders of activities to share with my little one.
