Wow! What an exciting giveaway! Anita and Rob Amos, Montessori parents and founders of Montessori Compass, recently returned from the American Montessori Society Annual Conference in San Francisco. They sponsored a giveaway at the conference of an iPad 2. They’re now sponsoring a second giveaway … An iPAD GIVEAWAY here at Living Montessori Now (available WORLDWIDE)!
Before we get to the giveaway, let me tell you a bit about Montessori Compass. Montessori Compass is an incredibly user-friendly, web-based software application that provides online Montessori record keeping, school management, and parent communication from any web-enabled device.
I had the opportunity to take a web demo of the site on Tuesday. Was I ever impressed! I just wished Montessori Compass would have been available when I was a Montessori teacher – and especially when I was a Montessori school owner.
Montessori Compass is designed to help Montessori teachers and schools keep records and communicate with parents easily and efficiently. It’s available for schools with infants-grade 12.
Just a few of the things you can do with Montessori Compass:
- record attendance
- create student work plans
- record individual lessons, group lessons, and notes for each child
- see classroom progress at a glance
- see where individual students are right now and where they should be going next
- place lesson plans on calendars
- share reports with specific members of your school staff
- share a directory of photos and descriptions of the most common Montessori works with parents to help them understand Montessori education better
- create and share an online photo album
- generate activity reports for each child daily or weekly
- automatically send reports to each child’s parents
- show coming events and your annual calendar
You don’t even need to be a techie to appreciate Montessori Compass. The interface is amazingly easy to use, and everything is autosaved so you can’t accidentally delete something important. Information is easy to edit with a minimum number of clicks needed to use everything. There are great templates with the site, although you can customize as well.
Montessori Compass isn’t just wonderful for teachers and schools … it’s also wonderful for Montessori parents! Montessori Compass helps you understand Montessori education through a directory of Montessori works and gives you a way to know what your child is doing at school. That makes it so much easier to support your child’s school experiences at home. If you’re a parent, you can always recommend that your child’s school sign up for Montessori Compass!
From the Montessori Compass site:
-
- School Management – Helping Montessori educators save time, money, and trees!
- Classroom Management – Spend your day focused on what you love to do … guiding young minds!
- Parent Communication – Bridging the gap between home and school!

I would love to win this because we don’t have an iPad at all and my husband has been hinting that he would like one
Watched the video. Love how you can plan and reschedule lessons for a group as well as an individual. I thought the emphasis was more on tracking completed work, love the planning aspect as well!
I love that lesson plans are automatically tagged to designated students!
I like that you can track daily classroom activity by group or individual using MC’s intuitive web-based interface.
I would love to win this to use as my daughter grows and learns over these next few important years. I know there are tons of apps that are great for babies and children.
I live in a small country and I am low on money,I have never had an apple product before, but I have been lemming for one ever since I tried my friends iPhone a few years back, and it’s impossible for me to get the iPad2 because I am really low on money and saving for collage. Thank you so much for the chance, may the luck be with all of us:) (yeah, that was pretty lame because its impossible:D) thank you.
I would love to use an iPad for my son when he starts Kindergarten this fall. He has the attention span of a knat and I know getting and keeping his attention with traditional teaching approaches.
I would love this for my boys school work!
My almost-three-year-old son and I could *really* use an iPad and this wonderful software! He has severe childhood apraxia of speech, and there are so many wonderful speech therapy tools available on iPads. My husband and I have tried to use Montessori principles with him since the very beginning, and just love all of the wonderful resources available. Thank you for the opportunity.
I’d love to give one to my son.
This is really amazing. My children ages 11, 9 and 6 are in their second year at a Montessori school. I am BLOWN away by the education that they are receiving. They are soaring in every aspect of their life. I love Montessori and our family could really use this iPad! Thanks
wow! we don’t have an Ipad. And It’s a big gift for my family if we could have one.
I think the Montessori Compass feature that can automatically send daily/weekly classroom digest messages to parents, thereby keeping them abreast of their child’s education, would be an indispensable tool.
So that I can use Montessori Compass with my little ones:) Yay for montessori learning!
We have one iPad already, but it’s used by the whole family and is primarily for the kids. There are many apps that can be used by only one user (like Flipboard and Words with Friends) and the ones that you can log in and out of takes quite a while on an iPad (since you have to type everything out with one finger). I’d love to have a second iPad so that I can use it as my personal primary mode of technology – set up homeschooling projects, have access to MY docs and e-mail and videos, etc.
I would love to win one because there are three of us using the same 16g and we don’t have enough space anymore to add videos or books
I really want an Ipad 2 because I want to experience how it works. 🙂
The Montessori Compass program is intriguing, I like the email feature and how the emails are internal to the program. The observation record keeping seems fairly easy to use and I like how the children’s photos can be added and that makes it very easy for quick reference and selection.
As a primary Montessori guide, an iPad would be a great addition for both record keeping and ease of use for other things in the classroom.
Hope to win the iPad2. I’ll pray hard to won.
