Wow! What an exciting giveaway! Anita and Rob Amos, Montessori parents and founders of Montessori Compass, recently returned from the American Montessori Society Annual Conference in San Francisco. They sponsored a giveaway at the conference of an iPad 2. They’re now sponsoring a second giveaway … An iPAD GIVEAWAY here at Living Montessori Now (available WORLDWIDE)!
Before we get to the giveaway, let me tell you a bit about Montessori Compass. Montessori Compass is an incredibly user-friendly, web-based software application that provides online Montessori record keeping, school management, and parent communication from any web-enabled device.
I had the opportunity to take a web demo of the site on Tuesday. Was I ever impressed! I just wished Montessori Compass would have been available when I was a Montessori teacher – and especially when I was a Montessori school owner.
Montessori Compass is designed to help Montessori teachers and schools keep records and communicate with parents easily and efficiently. It’s available for schools with infants-grade 12.
Just a few of the things you can do with Montessori Compass:
- record attendance
- create student work plans
- record individual lessons, group lessons, and notes for each child
- see classroom progress at a glance
- see where individual students are right now and where they should be going next
- place lesson plans on calendars
- share reports with specific members of your school staff
- share a directory of photos and descriptions of the most common Montessori works with parents to help them understand Montessori education better
- create and share an online photo album
- generate activity reports for each child daily or weekly
- automatically send reports to each child’s parents
- show coming events and your annual calendar
You don’t even need to be a techie to appreciate Montessori Compass. The interface is amazingly easy to use, and everything is autosaved so you can’t accidentally delete something important. Information is easy to edit with a minimum number of clicks needed to use everything. There are great templates with the site, although you can customize as well.
Montessori Compass isn’t just wonderful for teachers and schools … it’s also wonderful for Montessori parents! Montessori Compass helps you understand Montessori education through a directory of Montessori works and gives you a way to know what your child is doing at school. That makes it so much easier to support your child’s school experiences at home. If you’re a parent, you can always recommend that your child’s school sign up for Montessori Compass!
From the Montessori Compass site:
-
- School Management – Helping Montessori educators save time, money, and trees!
- Classroom Management – Spend your day focused on what you love to do … guiding young minds!
- Parent Communication – Bridging the gap between home and school!

The comment for Stacey’s mandatory entry (why she wanted to win) said:
“Thanks for sharing the information about the software. It seems like a really great tool. I want to win because an iPad would benefit my whole family each in different ways, but I just can’t afford to put the extra money out for one. Thanks so much for giving me a chance to win.”

I would like to win an IPad2 so that I have something to do when I am on the bus to and from work.
I want to win because we homeschool 4 children in a very small village. This would help very much on those days we school in the car on trip into the “city”, which is too often.
Lesson planning is made so much easier w/ this.
I like the feature where you can track who is doing what assignment or something.
I want to be able to access the internet everywhere I need to like when my kids are taking a nap in my bed with me.
I would love to use the iPad to teach my kids how to read and do math!
love MC photo sharing feature. We get to record where the child is at and what lessons they’ve mastered at the same time sharing this with the parents.
I Love taking pictures of kids at work and the photos section make it easy to share with the parents their child’s photo and to show where the child is at. love love this feature. 🙂
I love the record keeping at a glance shows all the kids on one page, very nice!
I watched the demo and I like the picture feature for parents.
I would love to win this for my kids to use for all the educational apps that are available!
iPads have so many uses, but I especially love all the apps for homeschoolers. My preschooler would love to play with it.
I love that ipad is so homeschool friendly!
I’d like to win this for my daughter’s school. Her montessori school is very small and could benefit greatly from this!
With 6 kids in our family, there is CONSTANT competition for computer time. I would shamelessly claim the iPad for Mommy and free up a computer that I would normally be vying for! 🙂
I like the parent portal on the website.
I would love to win the Ipad, to help in our homeschooling.
After looking at their website, I love the parent portal. It makes it so easy for parents to stay up to date on important school events and information!
I love how you can send out internal emails and it won’t get filtered into spam
VIsited the Montessori Compass website…had a question rather than a comment. Are the lessons already preloaded and do they include elementary or just primary?
