Little Partners Learning Tower Review

November 7, 2014 By Deb Chitwood

I’ve always loved having my kids work together with me in the kitchen, and I’ve been looking forward to having grandkids work with me in the kitchen, too. So the Learning Tower was on my list of best Montessori-friendly products for toddlers. And after all the good things I’ve read about the Learning Tower, it was something I planned to get for my house. I was thrilled when I was given the chance to review a Learning Tower!

Little Partners Learning Tower

Disclosure: I received a Little Partners Learning Tower to facilitate my review. I was not required to write a positive review. My opinions are honest and my own. This post also contains some affiliate links (at no cost to you).

About the Learning Tower by Little Partners

  • The Learning Tower is a super-safe “step stool” manufactured by Little Partners. It is designed for ages 18 months to 6 years.
  • It’s constructed from the highest-quality layered birch. (The Learning Tower has a beautiful finish and feel. It’s obvious that it’s a very high-quality product. The beauty of it fits well with the Montessori philosophy of having the child’s environment as attractive as possible.)
  • The platform height easily adjusts to grow with children from 18 months to 6 years.
  • The platform is wide enough that one child can move around, and two children can use the Learning Tower at one time.
  • Four-sided railings prevent falls.
  • It fits flush against counters.
  • It has a non-toxic finish.
  • It has been tested to hold up to 500 lbs.
  • The Learning Tower is available in natural wood, dark cherry, ebony, soft white, red, and apple green

The Learning Tower also has some very cool attachments that can be purchased, such as a one-piece slipcover that includes a puppet theatre and popcorn stand.

The Little Partners Learning Tower is also available on Amazon. Update: I was able to add the Learn and Share Easel (also on Amazon) to the Learning Tower. It’s awesome!

You can follow Little Partners via Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. You can even get optional giveaway entries for following Little Partners (and Living Montessori Now) through various social media formats!

My Experience with the Learning Tower

I requested the dark cherry Learning Tower because it fits well with my kitchen cabinets and dining room table. I was very happy with the perfect match. My granddaughter, Zoey, is just one year old, so she isn’t technically at the minimum age for the Learning Tower. Because Zoey started to walk at 9 months, she’s very steady on her feet. I decided to let her use the Learning Tower if I’m right beside her. The Learning Tower is VERY stable, so I didn’t worry that Zoey would tip over or fall off the Learning Tower … and she didn’t have any difficulty with it. I can’t imagine a safer “step stool.”

Using and Storing the Learning Tower

Using and Storing the Learning Tower

First, I showed Zoey how to prepare her afternoon snack. Chea, Zoey’s mom, sends her snack and dinner with her, so I just have to heat up her food. In the photo, Zoey is helping transfer her tofu from the storage container to her bowl. Zoey loved being able to work at the kitchen counter! I look forward to lots of fun food preparation activities using the Learning Tower in the future!

Using the Learning Tower to Wash Hands

Using the Learning Tower to Wash Hands

The next day, I let Zoey use the Learning Tower to wash her hands in the bathroom sink. I would normally use the Learning Tower at the kitchen sink, but I wanted Zoey to have fun looking in the bathroom mirror as well.

So proud!

So proud!

It was so much fun to see the joy in Zoey’s face as she was able to wash her hands independently … truly a Montessori moment! 🙂 Even though the Learning Tower isn’t inexpensive at $199.99, I consider it well worth the price. Because of the safety factor and the large amount of use the Learning Tower can get in most families, I highly recommend the Learning Tower.

I have a very curious 22 month old who likes to help me cook in the kitchen. Right now, I bring one of the dining chair and have her sit on the chair while we cook. This would be an awesome piece of furniture in our home for our family!

I’d love to win this for my friend’s son because he would get a lot of use out of it.

I would love this for my son because he always wants to wash his hands, cook, brush his teeth by himself, so this would really help. The stool we have now is too short!

My best friend has a learning tower for her currently 22 month old daughter. She got it for her when she was about a year old. From the start they loved it and so did I. Im a big believer of including kids in everything you do so they can learn and this tower definitely does that. I cant wait to get one for my son!

I love these things, they look so safe and amazing for littles who want to see everything and mommies who don’t want to break their backs!

I want to win because my 18 month old LOVES to climb my stepladder in the kitchen so she can play or be involved but she has fallen off a few times because she gets so engrossed in what she is doing.

My 3yo is a climber. This would help her get up to do what she wants in a safer way.

We would love to win a learning tower so that my daughters could help assist easier and safer in the kitchen. They love working in the kitchen but step stools and chairs just don’t seem to be the right height nor prevent them from stepping off them when they are reaching or stirring something. I love that the learning tower can be adjusted for height 🙂

I’ve had one of these on my wish list since my daughter was 10 months old (she’s now 18 months old) but I haven’t been able to fit it in my budget. She loves to be with me at the kitchen counter cooking, sorting spices, playing with measuring spoons etc. Instead of having her sit on the counter with her next to me, it would be a dream to have something like this to give her the freedom and security to explore.

I would love to win this for my son. He is 18months and loves watching me cook. I end up holding him and cooking at the same time which is getting hard to do considering he is thirty pounds. After watching me he will go pretend to cook things with bowls and empty boxes and bottled. I think I may have a future chef in the making!

My youngest son has balance issues and I think this would be a great way for him to feel more secure and practice finding balance.

    Thank you!

Would love to win this to keep the kids safe while they help cook or wash hands.

I’ve learned not to take my child’s mind for granted or to underestimate what he is capable of based on his age or size because he manages to surprise me all of the time.

My two toddlers love to “help” mommy in the kitchen…anything they help with, they tend to less picky about eating. The Learning Tower would be great to use in my kitchen where they can help mommy make their favorite foods!

A learning tower would be a dream come true at this point in our lives.

We would love one of these! I often find myself holding my 20 month old on my hip when she is helping me dump ingredients in. This would make things so much more simple!
