Independence Day always marks an important part of summer in the U.S. Even though the holiday is on July 4th, you can focus on patriotic activities the whole month if you wish.

I’m featuring some great posts from Montessori bloggers with ideas to use for the 4th of July in the U.S. and for a patriotic unit in general. You can adapt the ideas for your country’s major holiday or holidays if you live in another country.

Free American Patriotic Songs and Rhymes for Circle Time  has YouTube videos with historical information about the U.S. patriotic holidays.

I’m SO glad that you commented on my blog so that I could find my way back here to Living Montessori Now! We are also a Montessori family (I worked at a Montessori school while in college, and my older two sons have been attending Montessori preschool for the past 3 years), so I love the ease of finding all of these great ideas in one place! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Oh, too many good things to choose from! I may have to try that state quarter match-up with my oldest. (came here from Mom Loop Friday Comment Follow)

Thanks, Kristy! I always thought the state quarters were fascinating, and I love the idea for matching the states with the quarters. Have fun – and have a great 4th of July! 🙂

Love that 4th of July sensory bin and that Quarter Matching game looks like lots of fun too. We don’t have anything really educational planned for the 4th. I had Erin write a letter to a soldier and I am in the works of getting together a fun care package program for all the young men going through basic training at the AFB here in San Antonio. I think we mostly plan to relax and eat until our hearts are content!

Thanks for your comment, Jessica! How wonderful that you had your daughter write a letter to a soldier – and that you’re putting together a care package program! That’s truly teaching patriotism. I hope your 4th of July ends up a happy one! 🙂
