Cleaning with Kids is sponsoring a giveaway through my blog with some great ideas and products for training and encouraging your kids to help with the cleaning! Cleaning with Kids is joined by Feather Duster Depot and Speed Cleaning (The Clean Team), who are offering prizes as well!
Review: Ready, Set…Clean! DVD
Adrienne Freas of Cleaning with Kids developed the Ready, Set…Clean! DVD using Montessori principles. She was a Montessori student as a child and realizes the importance of training your kids to develop housekeeping skills.
In the concepts section, Adrienne Freas focuses on training your kids to become good workers. She uses the analogy of coaching your kids to become a family team, playing the game of life together.
Adrienne has an adaptation of the Montessori Three-Period Lesson to teach children basic life skills. She has plans for having your kids work together to do the family chores using action cards and action charts (with action-chart rotations). She offers great speed-cleaning tips and encourages the use of natural, non-toxic cleaning products. If you’re wondering what sorts of tools and products to use, Adrienne gives lots of helpful information.
My favorite part of the DVD is the demonstrations section. The demonstrations are clear and helpful for teaching kids … and I learned a lot as well! Who knew I could have been vacuuming more efficiently all these years?! There are demonstrations for mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and team cleaning as well as demonstrations showing how to clean toilets, white sinks, steel sinks, tiled showers, glass showers, and mirrors.
The DVD is great – many ideas to help any family!

I liked speed cleaning on facebook!
I liked ready set clean on facebook!
I have used essential oils for cleaning in the past and am concerned about my kids using chemical filled products to clean with but it never occurred to me to give the kids essential oil cleaners to use. I am definitely going to rethink chores!
I subscribed to the cleaning with kids blog posts. Hopefully some will apply to the under two set!
This is so timely. I have been thinking how to teach and encourage my 15 month old. She already wipes everything with a cloth and ‘sweeps’ around the house with a little broom. And I have been debating whether to get a cleaning service, and I find it interesting that Adrienne has a cleaning service.
Anyway, I thought the segment on cleaning the bathroom was spot on. If I have my child do chores, we will do them together. I always resented my parents for watching TV after dinner while I washed dishes.

I did not know that there were Healthy chemical alternatives my kids are always egar to help but i won’t let them because of the harsh chemicals. This would be great for my kiddos they love to “help” mommy
I learned that they use Shaklee products, which I’ve heard a lot about, but never seen, or used.
I tweeted about this! 🙂
