Safari Ltd. Review and Giveaway (ARV $66 Worth of Products)

March 18, 2014 By Deb Chitwood

Safari Ltd. Review and GiveawayThe giveaway is now closed. You’ll find the announcement of the winner at the bottom of this post right below the Rafflecopter form!

Read my review for information about the awesome Safari Ltd. Life Cycles! You can find more ideas for activities to use with Safari Life Cycles here: Montessori Monday – Montessori-Inspired Life Cycle Activities.

This is a special giveaway sponsored by Safari Ltd. I’m hosting it in celebration of our Living Montessori Now Facebook community reaching 100,000 members and the coming of spring!

If you’re a parent or teacher or are close to a young child, don’t miss this giveaway! Safari TOOBS® and Life Cycles are perfect for putting together themed learning activities (or simple playtime fun) for home or school!

I’m a real lover of Safari TOOBS® and Life Cycles, and I’m excited that Safari Ltd. is sponsoring a giveaway of 3 different TOOBS® and 3 Life Cycle sets (the winner’s choice – ARV $66)! The giveaway is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada. The giveaway ends Tuesday, March 25, 9:00pm PST.

Disclosure: I received 6 Safari Ltd Life Cycle Sets for this review. I was not required to write a positive review, and any opinions expressed are my own. This post contains affiliate links (at no cost to you).

You don’t need to be a Montessori teacher or Montessori homeschooler to appreciate Safari Ltd. TOOBS and Life Cycles, although they are wonderful for creating Montessori-inspired activities. Safari Ltd. products are perfect for parents of young children. They’re also great if you’re a homeschooler or teacher who wants to give your children and/or students hands-on learning activities which work well for multiple ages.

In case you aren’t familiar with Safari Ltd. products, they’re award-winning miniature collectibles in many themes (perfect for unit studies). The Safari Ltd. sculptors work closely with zoos and museums to create detailed, lifelike molds from which each small plastic model is made. The replicas are all hand painted, phthalate-free, and safety tested. Suggested age is 3+.

About Safari Ltd. TOOBS

Each TOOB is $11.99. (Safari Ltd. does have a few designer TOOBS that are $12.99 and Mega-TOOBS that are $21.99) Safari Ltd. TOOBS are high-quality replicas … I love them! I have a number of Safari Ltd. posts, including posts using Safari Ltd. TOOBS for each continent.

An example of a TOOB I previously reviewed:

Dinos TOOBS®

Dinos TOOB

Replica Size: 1.5″ to 3″ H (4 to 7.5 cm). The Dinos TOOB includes Triceratops, Iguanodon, Corythosaurus, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Trannosaurus, Dimetrodon, Velociraptor, Spinosaurus, Diplodocus and Pteranodon.

About Safari Ltd. Life Cycles

For this review, I was given 6 Life Cycle sets. Each set says:

“Miraculous and awe-inspiring transformations can be observed and explored in close detail with Safariology® Life Cycles. Parents and teachers now have a way to teach about the wonders of life in an engaging way, with manipulatives that children can squeeze, touch, and play with. At Safari Ltd®, we believe learning and playing go hand-in-hand, which is why we have created our Life Cycles collection, complete with educational information in English, Spanish, and French included on the blister cards.”

Each Life Cycle Set is $9.99. Like the Safari Ltd. TOOBS, each life cycle set contains realistic-looking replicas. I think they’re wonderful and add interest to any study of life cycles with young children. The recommended age for the life cycles is 4+.

I’ve always thought the safari ltd toobs looked really neat. My daughter loves playing with miniature, life-like figures. They stir up her imagination and lead to interesting questions and expansion of her vocabulary naturally. These would be amazing!

We’ve used a toob for homeschoolings. These are a great way to introduce concepts Montessori-style (hands on!), especially when used in combination with nomenclature cards for sorting.

I am fairly new to the montessori teaching method. I have found valuable information and activities throughout the living montessori website that has made an impact on my teaching. I recently went searching for the TOOBS and found them quite adorable and know my students would love to manipulate them while learning. I did only purchase one set so far but would love to add to my collection. Thank you for allowing me and others to use your information and lessons for free. What a blessing to us all!

Safari Ltd. Toobs and Life Cycles offer the children I teach hands on, sensory experiences with the world that holds endless fascination and concrete, individual and group learning opportunities. Each child can meet the materials at their own developmental and interest level.

We just started homeschooling and my daughter is an animal fanatic! We have so many Toobs. I’d love to have these to start some science units. Congratulations on 100,000!

I like the life cycle sets and toobs, because they are multi-purpose. Of course they are educational, but there are many ways to use them in a class room. Being a preschool teacher and mother of four boys, I love textile boxes and habitat tubs and the detailed animals in the toobs are great for them. My sons’ and preschooler’s favorite habitat was a tub filled with big sheets of ice, some loose cubes, a little water and toobs of penguins and other artic creatures. Cold, but fun. Our science table with a tray of sand and the sea turtle life cycle set gave my kids the opportunity to learn the life cycle of the turtles while moving them through the sand as though they were turtles. We have had fun with other sets and toobs in different ways and would love the opportunity to have more and plan new ways for my kids to play and learn with them. Thank you for the possibility.

My kids crowd around the shelf of these at the craft store EVERY time we go! We have used several different ones for lessons and dioramas. LOVE!!

My son loves dinosaurs and dragons! We are just starting our homeschooling adventure and could definitely use some materials! These would be an amazing addition!
