Three weeks ago, my Activity of the Week was Montessori-inspired Earth Day Activities. Last week, I continued to focus on the earth with Continent Map Work. Even though the official Earth Day was April 22, that doesn’t mean Earth Day activities should stop. Ideally, of course, Earth Day is every day.
Layers of the Earth Activity
Even if your focus changes a bit, this is a great time of year to continue studying the earth as a follow-up to Earth Day. A great example of a follow-up activity would be the activity shown in the photos. The photos of the playdough earth and layers of the earth are from the Layers of the Earth post by Jojoebi at A Bit Of This And A Bit Of That…
The activity uses the free printable Layers of the Earth cards from Cultivating Dharma. This activity isn’t just for preschoolers and would be great for multi-level learning in a homeschool.
Other Montessori-Inspired Activities for Earth Day Every Day
Since my first Earth Day post was published, here are some new Montessori-inspired posts with activities that are great for celebrating Earth Day every day:
Planet Earth Posts from Leptir
Geography Posts from Mens Sana
All About Mother Earth! from Olives and Pickles
Everyday is Earth Day from To the Lesson!
And don’t miss out on Karen Tyler’s geography album with 177 pages of Montessori geography activities for ages 2½ – early elementary (which you’ll receive if you sign up for my mailing list in the right sidebar).

I LOVE this idea! My kids are in a science playgroup, where we do a short science activity and then the kids play together. I think we’ll do this as the activity the next time it’s at our house!
