I have a review of some gorgeous Alison’s Montessori materials for you today. And I have a special discount code for my readers!
Disclosure: To help you know more about Alison’s Montessori products, I was given a number of Alison’s Montessori materials to review. (I was never required to write a positive review for Alison’s Montessori, and any opinions expressed are my own.)
Previous Reviews of Montessori Materials from Alison’s Montessori
I’ve reviewed a number of materials from Alison’s Montessori before. I loved them all!
You can see my reviews here:
- Review of Alison’s Montessori Pink Tower Stand, Insets, Binomial Cube, Trinomial Cube, Decanomial Bead Box, and Golden Bead Material
- Review of Alison’s Montessori Pink Tower, Brown Stair, Red Rods and Stand, Natural Geometric Solids, Sandpaper Numbers, and Small Movable Alphabet
- Review of Alison’s Montessori Cylinder Blocks and Knobless Cylinders
- Review of Alison’s Montessori Number Rods, Stamp Game, and Geology Materials
I typically review review materials that homeschoolers and schools on a strict budget could afford. Alison’s Montessori has a premium line of materials that are made from Russian birch and German birch. The premium line materials are mostly handed sanded and hand cut … and meant to be flawless. Except for the golden bead materials, I’ve been reviewing the value-line materials, which are solid rubber wood and are machine cut. The materials have all been amazingly high quality.

New Alison’s Montessori Review
Note: In all the materials I’ve reviewed, everything has been in perfect condition. I’ve never had to return an item!!! The materials are even packed carefully in biodegradable packing peanuts!
Note: All the materials I’m reviewing today are value-line materials.
Geometric Solids and Geometric Solid Bases and Planes with Box
Geometric Solids with Bases & Planes with Box from Alison’s Montessori
I previously reviewed Alison’s Montessori natural geometric solids, which are less expensive. I’m reviewing the blue geometric solids in case you prefer the more traditional geometric solids. You can see a variety of their value-line geometric solid materials here.
As usual, the Alison’s Montessori geometric solids are beautiful.
Here’s the description of the Geometric Solids with Bases and Planes:
This material helps develop a child’s stereognostic sense, which creates a mental picture through touch. To help make the child more awake of the basic shapes found in the cultural environment. Indirectly, to prepare the child for later work in Mathematics, especially geometry, by identifying solid shapes and exploring the relationships between their plane and curved surfaces. Included in this set are the following pieces:

Constructive Triangles (Set of all 5 Miniature Boxes)
Set of all 5 Miniature Constructive Triangles from Alison’s Montessori
I’m in love with the miniature constructive triangles! I typically prefer the full-size materials (as in the cylinder blocks) because of the differences in weight. But for the constructive triangles, I love having the miniature version! I don’t have a huge amount of shelf space, and all 5 boxes fit on one of my shelves. Of course, for home use I typically have one out at a time with the others readily available in a nearby cupboard. But they’re just lovely and much less expensive than full-size constructive triangles … perfect for homeschools!
Here’s the description of the Constructive Triangles (Set of all 5 Miniature Boxes) from Alison’s Montessori online catalog:
This is a miniature set of five boxes containing triangles of different colors, shapes and sizes used to enhance practical knowledge of plane geometry. This set contains two rectangular boxes, one triangular box, one small hexagonal box and one large hexagonal box.

The above isn’t a presentation, but it’s a layout to show the beauty of the miniature constructive triangles!
Addition Snake Game
Shelf with Addition Snake Game and Addition Strip Board from Alison’s Montessori
The addition snake game is great for home or classroom use! You’ll love the Alison’s Montessori set. I typically use printables for the charts for home use, although Alison’s Montessori also has beautiful printed and laminated charts available.

Addition Strip Board
You can use a printable version of the addition strip board. For afterschooling, I used that. For my grandkids who will be homeschooled, it’s nice (although not essential) to have the wooden strips. And these are lovely materials that are very inviting. Even though the board itself is plastic, it still looks and feels like a high-quality material.
Here’s the description of the Addition Strip Board from Alison’s Montessori online catalog:
The child practices the sequence of addition combinations 1-9 and begins the process of memorizing the facts of addition. This set includes 9 red strips divided into squares, 9 solid blue strips, and a plastic board with squares from 1 – 18.
Subtraction Snake Game
Shelf with Subtraction Snake Game and Subtraction Strip Board from Alison’s Montessori
Like the addition snake game, this set is lovely and very inviting.
Here’s the description of the Subtraction Snake Game (7MM) from Alison’s Montessori online catalog:
This set contains four boxes that include 23 Golden Bead Bars of ten, five sets of Colored Bead Stairs, one set of black and white Bead Stairs, and five sets of Negative Bead Stairs. The child is introduced to subtraction combinations.
Subtraction Strip Board
Again, you can use printables to make a subtraction strip board, although this is lovely for homeschooling. I use printables for the charts, etc., although there are wonderful ones you can purchase printed and laminated through Alison’s Montessori.
Here’s the description of the Subtraction Strip Board from Alison’s Montessori online catalog:
The child performs exercises that develop the memorization of subtraction facts and basic subtraction skills using the Subtraction Strip Board. This set includes one hardwood board, natural wooden strips that correspond to the length of the squares 1-18, red and blue strips for further exploration, and a wooden box.
Short Bead Chains and Frame
Short Bead Chains and Frame from Alison’s Montessori
While the Montessori bead cabinet is one of my very favorite Montessori math materials, I don’t think it’s generally practical for homeschools. But I love having the short bead chains and frame. My grandkids were all instantly drawn to them. My 7-year-old granddaughter talked about the connection between multiplication and addition when observing the bead chains, and my 3-year-old grandkids instantly started counting the beads.
Here’s the description of the Short Bead Chains with Square and Frame from Alison’s Montessori online catalog: (Note: I have the value-line version, but I think only the premium version is available right now.) This is the description for the premium version:
This activity introduces the child for skip counting and the concept of multiplication. Set includes: |
Again, I love the quality of Alison’s Montessori materials!
