It’s Leap Year – and that’s a great excuse for a February 29 celebration and some frog activities! I’ve written posts before about having some calendar fun. While there aren’t a lot of Montessori posts specifically about Leap Year, there are some great Montessori-inspired activities that work perfectly for Leap Year.

Montessori-Inspired Frog Activities

I’ve seen Leap Year themes with frogs, leapin’ lizards, leaping movements, and leaping bunnies. The most common seems to be a frog theme, so I’m sharing some Montessori-inspired frog activities.

I love the idea of using a frog theme to celebrate a leap year. That sensory bin is so inviting, and I love the frog matching work as well. Annabelle recently found my frog life cycle models and spent days carrying them around. It was so nice to see them again! 🙂

I’d completely forgotten it was a leap year. I kept seeing all these frog posts and wondered what an earth the sudden obsession with frogs was. Now I see!

Thanks for linking up to the Afterschool Party. We have some frogs that enjoy our back pond and we love watching them each year go through their life cycle. I can’t wait to use all of these resources.

Thanks, Sierra! It’s nice that the frog activities work so well in a pond unit. I love that most Leap Day activities can be used more often than once every 4 years! 🙂
