100+ Back-to-School Celebration Ideas

August 5, 2014 By Deb Chitwood 14 Comments

I’m a real fan of back-to-school celebrations. They can be a wonderful way to start the school year whether your kids attend public school, private school, or homeschool. Start the School Year with a Celebration

As homeschoolers, my family started each school year with a celebration. We did our celebration on the first day of the new school year, but you could celebrate a bit later if needed. The main thing is finding a way to make the new school year special and memorable. My children are now 24 and 29, and we still treasure the memories from our first-day-of-school celebrations. You can read about my family’s back-to-school tradition in “Start the School Year with a Celebration!”

If you’d like to use calendar observances as celebrations to add fun and interest to your homeschool or family schedules, I have a post with August Themed Activities for Kids … part of my Monthly Themed Activities series.

Back to school is a wonderful time. Hopeful, excited, eager, ready, yet relaxed. Love this time. Fresh books, new perspective, any junky times of last year forgotten. Clean start. Thank you for the giveaway to make it even more special.

Such wonderful ideas!! We still have a few weeks before we go back to school, but I always take my daughter to the book store to pick out a book for the first day of school.
