Montessori math is absolutely brilliant, and learning math facts with Montessori materials can be surprisingly easy. Every Star Is Different has some Montessori multiplication and division printables that work perfectly with Montessori materials (purchased or DIY) for preschool through elementary.

*Disclosure: Disclosure: I’ve been given a copy of these materials to review. My opinions are honest and my own. This post contains affiliate links (at no cost to you).*

I’ve loved all the materials I’ve used from Every Star Is Different.

My bead bars, which I love, are from Alison’s Montessori. You can get bead bars on Amazon, although I haven’t personally used materials from those companies.

I don’t have a lot of shelf space, so I prepared just three multiplication activities. The Montessori Skip Counting and Multiplication Bundle has many activities for a variety of levels that can be prepared with it. Of course, I have toddler grandchildren right now, so (for safety) I actually keep these sorts of materials out of reach on a high shelf or in a cabinet with a child lock that Zoey can open but toddlers can’t.

The tray on the left is a Multicraft tray. The wooden trays in the middle are only 6.5 x 4 x 1″ (a tiny size that’s hard to find in a wooden tray – especially one that’s already finished). I like to use mini 1″ clothespins for clip-card work for older kids. The small size makes them more challenging. (Note: These specific trays and boxes aren’t essential. I just like using them.)

A child can work with the skip counting hundred board activities as long as needed before adding an activity like the skip counting clip cards. There are also hundred board activities with blanks for the child to fill in the 4s (or whatever number they’re working with through 12). I used glass gems the color of the 4 bead bars for this activity. I especially like the glass gems that aren’t opaque so the number is still visible. Instead of using glass gems, the child could color in the numbers or use stickers or themed manipulatives.

For our current months and seasons theme, I’ll probably add small snowflake manipulatives instead of the glass gems to fit with the current season.

This is a variation of the traditional Montessori multiplication layout that’s shown in this Facebook video from Montessori Assistant. There are cards in the Montessori Skip Counting and Multiplication Bundle to do math facts through 12. Here I’m just showing the 4s taken up to 9 times.

In the bundle, there are Gold Bead Multiplication Answer Nomenclature Cards that are the same size as the Skip Counting Multiplication Description Nomenclature Cards. I don’t have them shown here, but they fit easily on the same tray. The child can place them below the bottom bead bars as a self-check.
